SHERBURN — The Sherburn Theatre will present the movie ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ this weekend, March 8-10, and next weekend. Showtimes at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Sherburn Legion will have their Steak Fry Night on Saturday, March 9, with ribeye, shrimp or smoked pork chop with a baked potato, salad bar and garlic toast.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Fairmont High School. There will also be a drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18 at St. John Vianney in Fairmont. On Sunday, March 10, we will go to Daylight Savings Time at 2 a.m., so turn your clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night.

The FFA in Sherburn will have their annual banquet beginning 5 p.m. Sunday, March 10. Their annual State FFA Convention will be held April 21-23.

Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association will have a pancake brunch from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 10. Pancakes, French toast, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs and juice are on the menu. Good food for a good cause.

Mayo Mobile Clinic is scheduled to be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, March 11, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, near the city hall building. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn Clinic.

The Sherburn Legion is scheduled to meet 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12. All members are urged to attend.

Tuesday, March 12, is also the date for townships annual meetings and elections. Area townships will have elections from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. The townships will have annual meetings also. Tenhassen Township will have their annual meeting at 4 p.m. as will Fox Lake Township, Lake Fremont Township in Dunnell, Elm Creek Township, Jay Township and Lake Belt Township. The other townships have planned an annual meeting for after the elections at 8:05 p.m. such as Rolling Green Township, Manyaska Township and Fraser Township. Note that the Jay Township meeting is at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn as the location had to be changed.

Midweek Lenten services continue on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn followed by a lunch and 6 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome for a meal fundraiser for the youth and the service at 7 p.m. for the Circle of Faith parishes. St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome will have a lunch at 6 p.m. and a Bible Study following the lunch. All area residents are welcome to join these congregations for services.

Waverly Lutheran will host a quilt-tying session from 9 a.m. to noon on March 21 and 22. Anyone wishing to help is welcome. No special quilting skills are needed.

There will be a Lunch & Learn program beginning 11 a.m. on March 20 at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, with a lunch to follow the program. This is free for anyone in Martin County. It is entertaining and educational. A free will donation for the lunch is appreciated.
