Welcome City Council to meet June 16

WELCOME — The Burn Site in Welcome for Welcome residents will be open from 8 to noon on Saturday, June 13. Only wood that is six inches in diameter or less, tree trimmings, brush, leaves and grass clippings should be brought to the site. Thank you for your cooperation. The city reminds residents that sump pumps should now be directed to the lawn or storm sewer.

Congratulations to St. Paul’s Community Church, which will celebrate its 125th anniversary on Saturday, June 13. They will have a time to reminisce over coffee and cookies from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and a service at 9:30 a.m. led by the worship leaders, son of the congregation Brian Wohlhuter and former pastor Rob Bellin. There will be photos and memory books to look at before and after the meal. Plan to attend the celebration. 125 years is quite a milestone.

The Martin County West School Board will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 15, at Sherburn Elementary School.

The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact City Hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 728-8740 or in person.

Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good fellowship around a cup of coffee and treats.

A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. The program will be followed by lunch. Please RSVP at (507) 235-3833 before that date. These fun and educational programs are free for senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.

The Red Cross Blood Drives will be in the area from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 15, at the Sinn Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, Friday, June 19, at the American Legion Hall in Fairmont, and from noon to 6 p.m. on June 29 at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome, Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont and the Truman Community Building. Sundaes in the Park have begun and the next day, for fun, music and ice cream will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont. The entertainment will be pianist Glenn Henriksen. If inclement weather, the event will be held at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.

The Fairmont Martins baseball team will compete against Lakefield on Wednesday, June 17, at Winnebago Diamonds in Fairmont.

Fairmont City Band will have a concert from 8 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at the Sylvania Park Bandshell in Fairmont.
