WELCOME — There will be a Ducks Unlimited Green Wing event for youth of the area from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Martin County West High School in Sherburn. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. and a $15 fee includes a chance for a door prize, a

American Red Cross blood drives in the area will be held in the month of June. They will be from June 6-8 at Best Western in Fairmont, on June 12 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn and on June 19 at the Truman Community Center. Tuesday coffee hours continue in May from 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for a cup of coffee, goodies and great fellowship.

Upcoming events include the Memorial Day program starting 9 a.m. on May 29, at the Welcome Legion in Welcome. The public is encouraged to attend. The speaker will be Fay Umbreit from Dunnell. Remember freedom isn’t free.

There will be a 90th birthday celebration for Carol Janssen from 2-4 p.m. May 27, at The Still in Dunnell.

Martin County Relay for Life is scheduled from 4-11 p.m. on June 24 at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont.

Welcome Summer Festival will be held July 14-16 with many events planned. A cornhole tournament is one of them and begins 6 p.m. on July 14. The committee has been doing fundraisers throughout the year and one of the fundraisers is a ticket sale of 500 tickets

for $10 per ticket. The prizes to be awarded on July 15 include a fire pit by the Fab Shop, a bundle of Yeti products and a 70 inch Samsung television. The purchase must be from a person, 18 years or older, and the winner does not have to be present that day. Get
