Christmas services this weekend

SHERBURN – From 5-8 p.m. tonight, Dec. 21, there will be a ’Hamburger Night’ at the Sherburn Legion Hall. You will get a burger, beans and salad for only $10.

The Sherburn Legion will also have a New Year’s Eve prime rib dinner from 5-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, with Tom and Jerrys with snacks beginning at 4 p.m.

Some churches that I have heard from are offering special Christmas services. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a family Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. and a special candlelight service at 9 p.m. On Christmas Day the service will be at 9 a.m. Regional Worship Center will have Christmas Eve service with communion from 5-6 p.m. On Christmas Day, they will have a service at 10 a.m. with a special children’s service included. St. Luke’s Catholic Church has services at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays but will be changing service times to 5 p.m. on Saturday in January. Please check with your family’s

church and attend services to recognize the reason for the season, Christ’s birth. Please have a Merry and safe Christmas.

St. Luke’s Catholic Church will have a youth program beginning 6:30 p.m. tonight, Dec. 21. On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, their service will be at 4 p.m. On New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, will begin the time change for their usual services in January with a service at 5 p.m. During January they will have services at 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Sherburn Theatre will be closed on Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, but will have the movie ‘Puss in Boots: the Last Wish’ shown this weekend, Dec. 22-24. Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Tomorrow, Dec. 22, there will be a gymnastics meet beginning 6 p.m. at Marshall. The boys basketball team will travel to St. James for a 7 p.m. game. The girls hockey team will have a game at 7 p.m. at the Martin County Arena in Fairmont. The boys hockey team will

travel to Austin for a 7:15 p.m. game. Students at Martin County West (MCW) Schools will be on vacation from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2, 2023. They will resume school on Jan. 3 in all schools. The boys basketball will be participating in the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton basketball tournament on Dec. 27. Good luck to the Mavericks. The CER from MCW has reported that the Red Bulls Youth Wrestling has over 120 registered and the Mini Magic Gymnastics has four teams. Future team members perhaps.

Condolences to the families of Ben Cuba, and Janette and Bruce Behne. Christmas is a hard time for families who are grieving.
