Show caution for farm vehicles during fall season

WELCOME – Welcome to the fall season. Thursday was the first day of fall. The combining of beans has started in some fields and the corn and beans are definitely turning colors quickly. Please watch for slow moving vehicles and farming equipment on roads in the area,

especially near road construction. Let’s all have a safe harvest.

Highway 263 continues to be worked on, so watch for detour signs, culvert installation and truck hauling on that road. Thank you for your cooperation.

There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 2-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. For information or to make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online at www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Blood is in high demand and low supply right now so give if you are able. Thank you for saving up to three lives with each blood donation.

This coming week is the last week of September, so Tuesday coffee hours will be held one more time from 8:30-10 a.m. on Sept. 27, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. October coffee hours will continue at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn at the same

times.

Circle of Faith’s September services on Wednesday evening in Ceylon’s St. Peter Lutheran Church will have one more service this coming week at 6:30 p.m. In October, St. Peter will have 9 a.m. Sunday services. Since Circle of Faith parishes are led by only one pastor now, things may change. Check out the Ripples Newsletter for information.

Welcome Fire Department is now taking applications for new firefighters to join the department through Oct. 14. Applications are available at Welcome City Hall during normal business hours. Welcome Fire Department has been serving this community since 1894. Think about joining them.
