Star Wars Night: 45th anniversary celebration

Fairmont Opera House will hold a FREE family event Wednesday, May 25. ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ will be screened 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free and may be reserved in advance at fairmontoperahouse.org/tickets or will be available at the door. Other events that will take place from 5-8 p.m. include Jedi training with lightsabers, costume contest, trivia contest, retro video games by Replay, appearance by the 501st Legion-Central Garrison, photo opportunities, and themed food and drinks by various vendors. All are welcome to attend.

Library to host Ombre vase painting Thursday

Adults are invited to join library staff for Ombre Vase Painting beginning 4 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. All supplies are provided. No registration is required. This program is open to the public and there is no cost to attend. For questions, call the library at (507) 238-4207.

Heritage Acres meeting on Thursday

The first meeting of the year for Heritage Acres members will be held 6 p.m. Thursday in the Prairieville Building at Heritage Acres, 507 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. After a light supper, Jerry Simon, president, will address the group on the summer activity schedule, maintenance and improvements to date, crop progress and the need for volunteers. He will also go over the plans for the annual meeting on June 23. All members and the public are invited to attend.
