Ceylon Clean Up Day set May 21

CEYLON — Condolences to the families of Eugene Simmering of the Ceylon/Wilbert area, and Travis Lang of Ceylon, gone too soon. They both will be missed.

Ceylon’s Clean Up Day will be Saturday, May 21. Tags for the curbside pick up of piles the size of a pickup bed, to be on the curb by May 19, are available at Ceylon City Hall for $10. Refurbishable and salvageable items can be on the curb by May 17, and Waste Management will pick up the tagged items on May 21. Items must be removed from the curb by May 23. For further information, call the city hall at (507) 632-4653. This is a good opportunity to get rid of the junk that may be an ordinance violation and later be a larger charge for removal.

Coffee Lovers group meets 8:30-10 a.m. every Thursday in the back room at Legends ll. Area men and women are welcome to join them for good coffee and great fellowship.

There is a drastic need for blood and there are upcoming Red Cross blood drives in the area. There is a blood drive from 1-7 p.m. on June 6, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. There are also blood drives from June 7-9 at the Best Western in Fairmont, and on June 20 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. To find blood drives and times available, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online at www.redcrossblood.org, or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Summer is notorious for low blood drive appointments and the need is great now. It only takes a small amount of your time. Fill out the Rapid Pass on the day of your appointment and shorten the registration time. One donation of blood can be used to save three lives. Make an appointment now. Red Cross staff is also needed for this great need for blood. Thank you for your help.
