There is a lower amount of blood being donated lately, so if you are able, give blood at a Red Cross blood drive in the area. There will be drives Feb. 15-17 in Fairmont, on Feb. 21 in Trimont, and on Feb. 28 in Welcome. For further information and to find a blood drive

location near you, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online at www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Every donation could save up to three lives. Make appointments early since there are no walk-ins now. Donate blood, platelets or

plasma. The American Red Cross is experiencing the worst blood shortage in over a decade. The dangerously low blood supply levels have forced some hospitals to defer patients from major surgery, including organ transplants.
