SHERBURN – The LWML ladies group at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a ‘Guest Day’ at 2 p.m. today. The speaker will be Karis Hagen who will share experiences of growing up as a missionary’s child in Africa. There will be a Christmas hymn sing, along with coffee and dessert.

Today is also the date for the Martin County West Dollars for Scholars scholarship help night at 6:30 p.m. in the computer lab at the high school in Sherburn. The system will be explained and help to apply will be available. MCW seniors and post-secondary students may apply before March 15, 2022. Condolences to the family of Stevan Luhmann from Sherburn who passed away. He will be missed.

There will be a ‘Lunch and Learn’ 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. This is a free program for any Martin County resident. The lunch cost is a free will donation.

For MCW school events, the wrestling team will be at Blue Earth Area 6 p.m. on Friday, and they will wrestle in Jackson on Saturday. The boys basketball team will travel to Cleveland at 7 p.m. Saturday.There will be a dance recital 7 p.m. Saturday at the MCW High School in Sherburn. On Monday, there will be choir concert at the high school, and on Tuesday, the gymnastics team will be at Worthington High School at 6 p.m., and the boys basketball team will be in Sherburn at 7 p.m.

I have enjoyed the Christmas carols on the Circle of Faith parishes Facebook page on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Compliments to the Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club who decorated the large flower pots downtown for Christmas. They look festive.
