Burger Bash on Sunday

Arnie and Donna Bentz are celebrating 60 years of marriage. They invite you to join them from 1-4 pm Saturday for an open house at their home located at 2188 220th Street, Truman MN 56088. Your presence and fellowship are the only gifts needed. They were married Sept. 16, 1961.

The Lewisville Fire Fighting Company is having a Drive and Go Burger Bash from 11 a.m to 1:30 p.m., or until gone, Sunday. You will get a hamburger, cheeseburger or hot dog, potato salad or chips and cookie all for a free will donation. You can sit down and eat or get takeout to go. All proceeds will help the local fire department.

Sunday is grandparents’ day. Having a strong family bond lowers the risk of depression in both grandparents and grandkids.

Tuesday is Pesticide Container Recycling from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Martin County Highway Dept. at 1200 Marcus Street. This is a FREE service. On Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sept. 18th from 9 a.m. to noon there will be a Fairmont and Martin County clean up at the Martin County Highway Department. Appliances, electronics, and furniture are $15 per item. Car tires are $3 each, semi and racing tires are $10 each and tractor tires $40 each. NO household hazardous waste will be accepted. The Truman Active Living group will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Truman Museum. Any interested Truman resident or area resident who would like to see the community continue to provide and improve their facilities are invited to attend the meetings. They will welcome your input.

Recycling Day is Wednesday. Place the recycling container curbside by 7 a.m. with your clean recycling containers. Plastics with the numbers 1, 2 & 5 are accepted. Egg Cartons, pizza boxes, styrofoam and plastic grocery bags are not.

Second Harvest Heartland/NAPS will be 9:20-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. This is for eligible seniors 60 years and older. Pre-register at (800) 365-0270. You will receive a 30-to-35-pound box of food that is low in salt and sugar content.

City-wide garage sales will be held 8 a.m to 8 p.m. Sept. 17, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18, in Truman. Maps will be available starting Saturday at Casey’s, the bank and city hall. There are 18 sales.
