Area roundup: Warriors softball extends winning streak to four

PREP SOFTBALL

NU 8, GTRA 4

SWEA CITY – The North Union softball team scored four key runs to pull away from GTRA, 8-4, during Tuesday night’s clash in Swea City. Brylie Deim had two hits, one of which was a home run, to help bring in her four RBIs. Six other Warriors notched a base knock to fuel the team’s eight total hits. North Union walked seven times while striking out just twice. Ainsley Ulrich strung together another complete game effort in the circle, fanning nine batters and allowing nine hits. Only one of the four allowed runs was earned. She tallied 123 pitches.

PREP BASEBALL

NU 11, GTRA 8

BANCROFT – North Union’s 11 hits from seven different batters powered the Warriors over GTRA 11-8 on Tuesday night at Memorial Park in Bancroft. Casey Rezac, Max Merrill, Colin Kruse and Wiley Stevens each had multiple hits and combined for six RBIs. Rezac and Merrill each had a double, and the Warriors drew eight free bases collectively. Castor Kollasch logged 4.2 innings and 109 pitches to finish the contest. He allowed three runs and struck out seven.

May 15

New Prague took down Taco Johns U14 Boys 4-1 at Jeffrey Kot Fields. Daniel Sanchez scored off an assist from Manuel Ronaldo. Dominic Sietsema had four saves.

May 16

Slumberland U12G White got bested by New Prague 6-0 in New Prague. Brookelyn Izen had 10 saves at the net.

May 17

New Ulm tied Hefty Seed Co. U12B 4-4 at Jeffrey Kot Fields. Rab Hobbs helped with seven saves. Michael Brusky and Angel Lima each notched a goal.

Taco Johns U14 Boys got back into the winning column after taking down Tri-City United 3-1 at Jeffery Kot Fields. Daniel Sanchez had two scores, one off an assist from Gabriel Camargo, while Camargo had the third. Dominic Sietsema had three saves.

Seifried Portrait Design U18 Boys scored seven goals compared to Tri-City United’s one. Nathan Paris had a hat trick, with two of his scores coming from Hector Pablo Gomez and the other via Luis Martin. Ricardo Morales Herrera had two scores. Dammon Castillo and Xavier Garcia scored the other two goals.

May 21

Waseca outscored Saxton Farms U12G Red 5-3. Kiana Dunn had two scores assisted by Dakota Abel, while Abel had the other goal off a pass from Morgan Helmers. Annie Klunder had four saves.

K-9 Klips U15G took down Mountain Lake 2-0 at Jeffrey Kot Fields. Olive Kawecki scored unassisted, and Ellie Steuer drew her penalty shot past the net. Megan Hector had seven saves.

Bolton & Menk, Inc. U18 Girls outdueled St. Peter 4-0 in St. Peter. Abbie Simpson had two scores, one unassisted, assisted by Grace Kotewa and Addyson Urban. Lauren Zarling and Grace Kotewa had the other two scores. Lianna Weber and Allissa Moore each had a save.

May 25

Rochester beat Day Plumbing U15 Boys 2-1 at Rochester. Dawson O’Brien scored off a pass from Henry Schwieger. Chase Haugen had six saves, while Cooper Wiederhoeft had three.

May 26

Mankato took down Slumberland U12G White 8-1. Slumberland’s lone score was via Adalie Grupe. Lainee Matheson had 12 saves.

Taco Johns U14 Boys and Waseca tied 4-4 at Waseca. Gabriel Camargo had three goals unassisted. Manuel Ronaldo had the other score off a Gabriel Camargo assist. Dominic Sietsema had six saves.

Seifried Portrait Design U18 Boys outmaneuvered Waseca 3-2. Xavier Garcia had two scores; Marco Chavez and Ricardo Morales Herrera assisted. Ricardo Morales Herrera had the other score. Brody Deuel had 11 saves.

May 27

Saxton Farms U11/12G Red beat Owatonna 4-2. Sophia Reyes had 12 saves, and Dakota Abel had six. Kiana Dunn had two scores, both coming from Mollie Reyelts. Dakota Abel had two as well, also from Kiana Dunn.

May 28

New Prague took down Hefty Seed Company U12 Boys 10-1 at Webster. Paxton Soelter scored, and Jake Hinz had 11 saves.

Slumberland U12G White beat St. Peter 3-2 at Jeffery Kot Fields. Amelia Algarra had two scores. Adalie Grupe had one. Brookelyn Izen collected nine saves.

New Ulm defeated Day Plumbing U15 Boys at Jeffery Kot Fields 5-3. Cooper Wiederhoeft had seven saves. Chase Haugen had three. Dawson O’Brien had two scores, and Henry Fuller had one.
