Ceylon auction continues today

CEYLON — Today is the second Ceylon Community Auction Day.

Those attending are asked to regard private property with respect.

There will be food vendors available. The auctioneers are planning

on two or three rings for selling. There are a few rummage sales in

town also. Have fun bargain hunting.

Ceylon Area Historical Society Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to

2:30 p.m. today. The museum is located across the street from the

post office. Check out all the great items from Ceylon’s past.

The congregation at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert are reminded

that their Sunday services are scheduled for 8 a.m. this Sunday,

on July 25 and August 1, since they will have guest pastors those

Sundays.

Since the pandemic forced some families to postpone funeral

services and memorials, the family of Eileen Christensen who died in January, will be holding a

funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday at St.

Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at

the church. Eileen was a Ceylon resident for most of her 100+

years. There will also be a memorial get-together in memory of

Richard Gibeau at his son, John’s house on Aug. 14.

Residents of Ceylon are asked to cooperate with Vanguard Utility

Services to install water and electric meters. There is no charge for

the installation and it will help the city and residents with water and electric services and

charges. The city will also be increasing the

water rate on the August bill which was planned at the auditor and budget meetings. Questions

can be directed to the city clerk at (507) 632-4653. Thank you for your support.

Starting at $2.99/week.
