Coffee Lovers meet Thursdays at Lake Belt

CEYLON — Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will hold their usual 5:30 p.m. service tonight, Saturday, June 6, with communion. The congregation is planning a special closing or decommissioning service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20 as the congregation will be ending their services.

The Circle of Faith Parishes, which includes St. Peter in Ceylon, are reminded that their services will be held at 9 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont and at 10 :30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome during June. Note the change of times for these churches because of the rotation of services planned.

St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert will have 10 a.m. services and the ladies group LWML will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 11. Their partner church, St. John’s in Sherburn will have 8 a.m. services and they will begin their Vacation Bible School from June 8-12 for children in preschool and kindergarten. Their LWML will have a meeting at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have 10:30 a.m. services in June and will have Tuesday Coffee Hours in June from 8:30 to 10 a.m. St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome will have a special 125th anniversary celebration service at 9:30 a.m. on June 14. All area residents are welcome to join any of these congregations for services.

Coffee Lovers will meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Thursdays at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill’s banquet room in Ceylon. Area residents are welcome to join them for coffee and fellowship.

The Ceylon City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, at the City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact the City Clerk before the meeting at (507) 632-4653 or in person.

Condolences to the family of Fred Krueger of Dunnell, who passed away recently. He will be missed by family and friends.

Sundaes at the Park will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont, with the entertainment by the Trimont Centennial Band. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy music and ice cream.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon will take sign ups for Heaven’s Table Food Boxes by Thursday, June 11 by contacting (507) 236-7850. The pick up will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, June 19, at 209 West Street in Ceylon.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be on Monday, June 15 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, on Friday, June 19 at the American Legion in Fairmont, and on Monday, June 29 at Truman Community Hall, St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and Trimont Covenant Church. Blood is needed every two seconds in the United States. The supply is low now, so give if you are eligible (ages 16 and up, weigh 110 or more and in good health). Thank you. Congratulations to the 1961 Confirmation Class from St. Paul’s Wilbert on their 65th anniversary. They will meet at Wilbert on Sunday, June 14. They are blessed to have all the 11 former confirmands living at this time.

Ceylon will have a summer auction on Saturday, July 18. Consignment will be held until Wednesday, July 15 with Howell Auctioneers.

The St. John’s Friendship Club from Sherburn will have a Bus Trip to Plymouth Playhouse in Iowa on Saturday, July 18. They will have lunch and see the comedy sequel to Church Basement Ladies, “A Second Helping” at 2 p.m. The cost is $120 per person for trip, lunch and play. Sounds like fun. All area residents are welcome to join them. Membership at St. John’s is not required. They need 40 people to sign up.
