Large auction is next weekend
CEYLON — Ceylon Legion and Sons of the Legion will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday in the meeting hall at
Legends II. This is an important
meeting concerning groups that would benefit from their charitable
giving. All members are urged to attend.
Ceylon City Council is scheduled to meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Ceylon City Hall. All members
are urged to attend. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning
of each
meeting without reservations. Those who would like to be on the
regular agenda should contact the city clerk at (507) 632-4653
prior to the meeting.
There will be a huge auction next weekend, July 17, in Ceylon. It will begin at 8:30 a.m. and
run until dark with 2-3 rings. The auctioneers
are Mark and Larry Howell and Gary Helmers.
There is a need for blood in the country and there are Red Cross
blood drives located in Fairmont, Mountain Lake, and Jackson. There will be a drive from 2-6
p.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Catholic
Church in Fairmont. There will also be a drive from 1:30-6:30 p.m. Monday at the community
center in Mountain Lake. Lastly, there will be a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. July 15, and 8 a.m.
to 1 p.m. July 16
at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jackson. Summer is usually
slower for blood donations and other circumstances have lowered
the donations too. Give blood if you can and save up to three lives

Next weekend, July 17, will be the Welcome Summer Festival with a chicken feed on Friday and a
pork chop feed on Saturday. There will also be a street dance featuring the band, IV Play, on
Saturday.
There are numerous rummage/garage sales planned as well. It is nice to see some events return.
