Fairmont man faces charges

FAIRMONT — A Fairmont man is facing a felony charge in Martin County.

Zachary John Brandt, 33, has been charged with drug possession in the fifth degree, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

At approximately 2:55 a.m. on December 30, 2020, Fairmont police officers were dispatched to a report of a domestic assault in the 100 block of Linden Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and met with an adult female.

The woman advised an officer that she had gotten into an argument with Brandt and during the argument Brandt had gotten into her face and had pushed her against a dresser. She also indicated that Brandt had pushed her a number of times that day, causing her to fall to the floor.

She indicated that later that day, Brandt had pushed her and she hit her legs on a chair. An officer observed a minor injury and redness on her legs. She indicated that she then called the police and Brandt left the residence.

Brandt was later apprehended and transported to the Martin County Jail. At the jail, he was searched and a baggie of meth and a meth pipe were discovered in his sock. Brandt later admitted to ownership of those items. The meth weighed 0.59 grams.
