Civic and Commerce Club meets July 2
SHERBURN — A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 1 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. The program will be about cremation and funerals by speaker Ean Sinn. Please RSVP at 507-235-3833. These educational and fun programs are free to senior citizens from Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.
Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, July 1, at the Sherburn Legion Hall. $12 will get a burger, salad, and beans. Sounds yummy. A Steak Fry Night will be on July 11 at the Sherburn Legion.
Civic and Commerce Club will meet at noon on Thursday, July 2, at Bank Midwest. The club has applied for a grant for some new benches at the park and planted the large planters on main street. The American Red Cross blood drives continue in Fairmont in July. On July 2 the blood drive will be at the Knights of Columbus Hall from noon to 6 p.m., on July 9 it will be at Grace Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on July 20 the blood drive will be at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 800-733-2767 (800-RED-CROSS) visit www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Sundaes at the Park will feature the Kittleson Family Band as the entertainment at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont. In case of inclement weather it will be held at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music and ice cream.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s Church will meet for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, at Green Mill in Fairmont. Area residents are invited to join them. Membership in the club or at St. John’s is not required.
Caregiver’s Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 6, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Any area caregiver and family are welcome to attend.
The Sherburn City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 6, at the City Hall. There is always a time for public comments/questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please contact the City Hall at 507-764-4491 prior to the meeting date.
Coffee Hours will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for fellowship around a cup of coffee and treats each Tuesday in July.
Camp Omega Day Camp will be held from July 6 to July 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn for children in first through 6th grade (this fall). St. John’s has summer services at 8 a.m. each Sunday. Their partner church in Wilbert, St. Paul’s, will have 10 a.m. services on Sundays.
St. Luke’s Catholic Church will change to its summer schedule from July to September with Saturday services at 5 p.m. Area residents are welcome to join any of the area churches for services.
The Sherburn Library is continuing its summer events with drop-in arts and crafts on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and Storytimes on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. at the Sherburn Theatre. Magician Brian Richards will perform at 1:30 p.m. on July 9 at the Sherburn Theatre.
There is a committee to help the Sherburn Theatre raise funds for the purchase of a server for their digital projector so they can show movies again. If anyone would like to contribute please send your donation to Box 667, Sherburn, MN 56171. The City Hall is collecting funds. Thank you to the Lions Club and the Fox Lake Conservation for their generous donations.
The City Hall also has affidavits of candidacy for the mayor (two-year term) and two Council members (four-year terms) which may be filled out from July 14 to July 28.
The School District office also has affidavits of candidacy for the three school board members (4 year terms) for the school district. All these candidates will be elected on the November 3 elections and filing dates are from July 14 to July 28.
Relay for Life will be at 4 p.m. on July 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont. Get a team together to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Go to relayforlife.org/martincounty or contact Deb at 507-236-5213 to list items for the silent or live auctions.
