Truman Days on July 24-26

TRUMAN — The Truman City Library will be closed on Friday, July 3.

As we celebrate our nation’s independence, let’s thank those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. Let’s respect one another. We won’t always agree, but we can always approach our differences with an open mind and the willingness to listen to our fellow Americans. Let’s all have a happy, safe and memorable Fourth of July.

CREST will host bingo for senior citizens at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at Booz Apartments, 221 North First Avenue. RSVPs are required as space is limited. Call Yvonne at (507) 776-8555 to reserve a spot. Bingo will continue on the first Tuesday of every month.

The Lutz Cancer Center in Fairmont will offer a cancer support group at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, July 7, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. This is a monthly support group for patients from any community who have received a cancer diagnosis at any point in their lives. The speaker of the month will be Laura Olsen P.T.A with Physical Therapy. Attendees may share experiences and learn about coping with the challenges of cancer. Caregivers are welcome to attend.

Household hazardous waste collection will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at Prairieland Solid Waste Management in Truman.

Magician Brian Richards will perform at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at the Truman Community Building. There will not be any storytime or crafts at the library on Wednesday, July 8.

Jazz band camp for grades 6 to 9 will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. from July 13 to July 17, at Granada-Huntley-East Chain. Children will learn jazz band basics, play as a band, build skills and perform. Register online at ghec.revtrak.net or in person at the GHEC school.

St Paul’s Lutheran Church of Truman will hold its annual salad luncheon on Wednesday July 11th from 11 am – 12:30 pm. Take outs are offered and an elevator is available. The church is located at 110 E 4th St N, Truman. Proceeds will go to many needed church repairs.

Truman city-wide garage sales will be on July 24 and 25. Flyers will be available on Saturday, July 18, at Casey’s in Truman. Be sure to check the time and day each sale is to be held. Treasures are waiting.
