STEP, Inc. taking holiday lights
TRUMAN — Tomorrow is Ugly Sweater Day. Even if you won’t be going out, just put on that ugly sweater and make yourself smile.
STEP, Inc. wants your old Christmas lights. You may drop your lights off at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. The collection bin is located inside the entryway to the office on the east side of the building. Reduce waste by dropping off old or broken holiday lights. If you would like more information, call (507) 238-4341.
Saturday is the day to fly your flag at half-staff to honor those we have lost to COVID-19. Governor Tim Walz has requested us to do this as a way of showing the families that have lost a loved one that we care.
Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday. If you would like to join via Zoom, let Thea or Sherry know by calling (507) 776-7951. Social distancing will be in place.
The holidays may look a little different this year for us, but the longest night of the year, the winter solstice, will arrive reliably as ever on Dec. 21 to welcome the gradual lengthening of days. It is also the beginning of winter.
If you’re tired of always cooking, try carryout or curbside services from our food establishments in Truman. Call ahead and they will have a delicious meal for you to enjoy. If you need a Christmas gift, remember gift cards are also available.
Trinity Lutheran Church will have a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m., which will be on-line only and will stream on their Facebook page, trinitylutherantruman.
St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Truman will have a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. and a Christmas Day service at 9 a.m. with Holy Communion.
