Sundaes in the Park on Sunday, June 21
CEYLON — Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will have its last service for members at 10 a.m. and a closing and decommissioning service at 2 p.m., which the public is welcome to attend. There were once four churches in Ceylon, and now there will be only one still having services, St. Peter Lutheran Church (one of the Circle of Faith Parishes). St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert will have services at 10 a.m. All are welcome.
The Sherburn Festival is underway with a parade at 1 p.m. and events all day at the City Park until 6 p.m. and at the Fox Lake Event center from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. today, Saturday, June 20.
Father’s Day is Sunday, June 21. Thank you to all fathers and father-figures in the area.
The Still Bar and Grill in Dunnell will host a special buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The buffet includes three meats, two vegetables, mashed potatoes, salad bar, and dessert. Reservations can be made by calling (507) 230-2787.
Dunnell is planning a 125th anniversary on July 18. Watch for further information about that event. Congratulations, Dunnell.
Sundaes in the Park will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont. The entertainment will be pianist Glenn Henriksen. If inclement weather, the event will be held at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.
Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good fellowship around a cup of coffee and treats.
Coffee Lovers will meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Thursdays at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill’s banquet room in Ceylon. All are welcome to join them for coffee and fellowship.
The Welcome/Sherburn Police Department will have a Bike Rodeo at 9 a.m. at Martin County West High School in Sherburn, and at noon at the Welcome Fire Hall on Saturday, May 27. Children of all ages can participate. Parents should sign a waiver and remain present at the event. The children should bring a bike, a helmet, and wear closed-toed shoes. They will learn signals, bike safety, helmet use, and how to navigate cones. Parents with questions about scooters and e-bikes may talk to the officers.
Healing Hearts Housing in Sherburn will host a Tye Dye Fundraiser at noon on Sunday, June 28, at the Sherburn Community Hall in Sherburn. Participants should bring a t-shirt to dye. The entry fee is $20. RSVP to Cheri at (507) 848-6307 or healingheartshousing.org. The Healing Hearts House is a recovery support site for women located in Sherburn. It is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Sounds like fun for a good cause and a colorful t-shirt.
The Friendship Club from St. John’s Church in Sherburn invites area seniors for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. on July 6 at Green Mill in Fairmont. Membership in the club or St. John’s Church is not required.
The American Red Cross blood drive will be on June 29, at St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome, Trimont Covenant Church and Truman Community Building, on July 2 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont and on July 9 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Call 1-800-733-2767 (1-800-RED-CROSS), visit www.redcrossblood.org or text ‘BLOODAPP’ to 90999 to make an appointment or get further information about blood drives in the area. Blood supply is always lower in the summer months, but the demand for blood is higher, so give blood if you are eligible (age 16 or older, weigh 110 or more and in good health). Thank you. Your blood donation may save up to three people.
The Helping Hands of Ceylon will arrange Heaven’s Table Food Shelf food boxes to be delivered in Ceylon. For guidelines and sign up, call (507) 236-7850 by July 9. The boxes can be picked up on July 21. You must sign up each month, even if you have signed up before.
