Businesses finding room to breathe

FAIRMONT – Lake’s Attire and Awards, formerly known as Fairmont Awards, and Rewind Med Spa are both moving into new locations, with Rewind going where Lake’s Attire used to be.

Lake’s Attire is now located at 1105 North State Street in Fairmont, in a portion of the building where Lange Ag Systems and Buy Rite Motors used to be. Owner Kim White said the building they were in at 310 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont was sold, so they needed to find a new location.

“We were looking for a space that we could utilize all avenues of everything we have to offer the community,” she said. “It had to be a big enough space that we could do everything in one location. We looked at the mall, but it just wasn’t the right fit for us, and here it was. It just fit everything for us.”

In the move, White said some products had to be put on hold until after the move finished.

“Initially we moved everything from the previous store all here,” she said. “All our summer products we put on hold to be delivered until after we were moved, so we didn’t have to move all of that stuff along with everything. We held all our restock items at the vendors and told them just to hold it until we got here, so we didn’t have to move those items.”

Now, White said they have pretty much everything besides some of their suits. So far, she said the move has been a good experience.

“We’ve had several new customers coming in right off of 15. They’re stopping in because they see us here and they’re like, ‘Hey, this is great. We like that we can just buzz right in because we’re driving by,’ or ‘We’ve never been in here before. Are you new?’ When we tell them we just came from downtown, they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, we didn’t even know you were downtown. We didn’t even know you had a store like this in town.'”

The name change actually happened around two years ago, but White said it never caught on at the old location. With a change in scenery, they’ve fully gone for it.

“We totally ripped the band-aid off when we came here and left it as Lake’s Attire and Awards, and didn’t do anything with Fairmont Awards,” she said. “We integrated that name because we are not just awards anymore; we have all of this attire in here.”

With the new space, White said they envision expanding and becoming bigger. Right now, they are looking to potentially add a men’s cologne line.

Rewind Med Spa has been in business at 120 West First Street for about four years. In that time, owner Shelli Gibson said they have been cramped for a good chunk of it.

“It’s something we’ve been thinking about for a while, because we have really outgrown this space,” she said. “We only have four treatment rooms right now, and we will have about 14 treatment rooms in the other place.”

Because of this, Gibson said it has created waiting periods that will vanish with the new rooms.

“We have so many services right now that are in one room that if that room is being used for a different service, the other person can’t use the service,” she explained. “People are waiting for treatments, and they won’t have to wait any longer. I’m just super excited about that.”

As for how they found 310 Downtown Plaza, Gibson said it came to her through word of mouth from some of her clients.

Currently, they have five employees. With this new location, they will be able to add two new employees, as well as new services such as a sauna and a cold plunge.

For now, they will stay in their current location, as the projection is that their new location will be ready by December.

“We are building tons of walls, 14 treatment rooms,” Gibson said. “It’s a complete remodel, so we have gutted everything, and now we have a clean slate to build and grow.”

As she balances running her business with managing a complete remodel on the new location, Gibson said it has been a lot of juggling, but she has stayed focused on her main mission.

“I am here to help people,” she said. “It’s not about me. It’s I am blessed to be put in this space and have the knowledge. We do a lot of different things, and I just hope to get the word out to heal more people and help more people.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
