Sherburn cleanup day on hold

SHERBURN — Parents who have a student who will enter kindergarten at Martin County West this fall and have completed registration paperwork may drop off those papers at Sherburn Elementary School or mail them to: 105 E. Fifth St., Sherburn, MN 56171.

If you did not receive paperwork for your kindergarten student, please contact Carolyn Ficken at the elementary school at (507) 764-2330.

Martin County West is delivering meals by school bus on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Sherburn, Trimont, Dunnell, Ceylon and Welcome.

Deliveries in Sherburn are 11:05 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church and 11:15 a.m. at the junior/senior high school. Meals are delivered in Trimont at 11:15 a.m. at the elementary school, and 11:25 a.m. at Triumph Memorial Park. In Dunnell, pickup time is 11:25 a.m. at the Dunnell City Park.

People picking up meals must provide name and number of children ages 18 and younger in the home. Children must be present in order to receive a meal.

Sherburn High School all-school reunion to be held in June has been postponed until the summer of 2021.

Citywide cleanup day for Sherburn will not be held May 9 as had previously been advertised. The cleanup day, with curbside pickup, will be held later this fall.

May and June Relay for Life of Martin County meetings are cancelled because of COVID-19 and American Cancer Society guidelines.

The month of April is head, neck, oral, esophageal and testicular cancer awareness month. Regular oral cancer examinations performed by your oral health professional are the best method of detecting oral cancer in the early stages.

Today is “Earth Day.” It is the 50th anniversary of a day that brought public awareness to protecting our environment.

Wondering what you can do to help? Recycle today and every day. On your walk around town, bring a plastic bag, wear gloves and pick up trash. Do what you can to clean up our streets, yards and parks.
