Fairmont area lands sought for Pheasant Opener
FAIRMONT — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is looking for some help in the Fairmont area for this year’s Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener.
Landowners with grassland or wetlands within 20 miles of Fairmont are being sought to participate in the event, which will be held Oct. 9-10.
The Pheasant Opener will help showcase the many hunting, recreational, tourism and community opportunities the Fairmont area has to offer visitors, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
The DNR says the land will only be hunted on Oct. 10. Invited hunters will be led by local hunter hosts, who may include local landowners.
Ideal lands for the hunt are grasslands or wetlands that support pheasant populations.
