‘Weird’ event coming up in Truman

TRUMAN — If you are in grades 2-6 and want to attend “Minnesota Weird,” registration is due Friday.

Prairie Ecology Bus Center will tell you about the enemy of a skunk, poisonous mammals and even a creature that eats human sweat. They will meet 3:15-4:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Truman Schools learning center.

Truman Lions Club burger bash will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Truman Community Building. Enjoy a delicious hamburger, condiments, beans, chips and a beverage. Take-outs are available. All proceeds stay in the community.

Lewisville Legion Auxiliary chicken supper will be 5-6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lewisville Legion.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday. Meetings are open to the public with a time for comment.

Wednesday is recycling day. Recycling containers should be placed curbside by 7 a.m. with all cans and bottles rinsed out and cleaned.

Second Harvest Heartland and the nutrition assistance program for eligible seniors, 60 years and older, will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 102 Seventh Ave. E., in Truman. Seniors who are interested in applying may pre-register at (800) 365-0270 for a 30- to 35-pound box of food that is low in salt and sugar content.

NAPS is a U.S. Department of Agriculture program funded through the farm bill.

A 55+ defensive driving refresher course is scheduled from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 25 in the Truman School board room. The fee is $22, payable the night of the class. To register, call (888) 234-1294 or visit www.mnsafetycenter.org
