Blood drive coming up

WELCOME — Martin County Relay For Life will be 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the Martin County Fairgrounds.

There are many things going on during the relay: opening ceremonies; survivor ceremonies; silent auction and live auction; meal; caregiver walk; bands; games; campsites; walking laps; luminaria lighting ceremony; and a closing ceremony.

The public is urged to attend and help make the celebration special and help kick cancer.

St. Paul’s Lutheran in Wilbert will host a salad luncheon 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. (The church is air-conditioned). Salads, bars and egg coffee will be served. Proceeds will help fund LWML projects through the year.

Senior citizens will meet for a potluck meal at noon Monday at the Welcome Legion, with fellowship to follow. All area senior citizens are invited to join them.

Tuesday coffee hours for the month of July will be 8:30-10 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Join friends and neighbors for good brew, treats and good fellowship.

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. All members are urged to attend.

Circle of Faith parishes are reminded that the July schedule for services includes 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening services at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon. Waverly Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran in Welcome, will have 8:30 a.m. services on Sundays in July.

There will be a Red Cross blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. July 9 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. Give the gift of life by giving blood. To make an appointment or for more information, go to www.redcrossblood.org, call (800) 733-2767 or text BLOODAPP to 90999.

o St. Paul’s United Church of Christ will host a community worship July 21.

o St. Paul’s UCC will hold Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 through sixth grade in the evenings July 28 to Aug. 1.
