City thankful for volunteers

CEYLON — Coffee hours for the month of October continue from 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. This is the last month for the coffee hours until April. Join friends and neighbors on Tuesdays in October for great brew and good fellowship.

A Red Cross blood drive will be held 12:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome. Give the gift of life, give blood. Appointments can be made online at www.redcrossblood.org, by calling (800) 733-2767 or by texting BLOODAPP to 90999. The need is great and the satisfaction is instant.

The Red Cross blood drive in Ceylon on Sept. 26 yielded 20 persons and 20 pints of blood. They almost made their goal of 22 pints.

Thank you to Legends 2 for making space available and to the volunteers at the registration and canteen that day.

A big thank you to those who donated blood.

The city of Ceylon would like to thank all those who volunteered to help clean up the streets and yards after the tornado with 80+ mph winds on Sept. 20. Your help was appreciated.

Saw an Irish proverb online that said: “A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything.”

I think I would agree.
