Water facility event slated

SHERBURN — CREST will hold its monthly “Lunch and Learn” event today at 11 a.m. at the Senior Citizen Center in Sherburn. Sylvia Hasara, an ombudsman, will give the presentation.

A lunch of grilled burgers, veggie salad and peach dessert will follow the program. The event is free and open to the public.

Also going on today in Sherburn is the new water treatment facility open house from 4-6 p.m. The public is invited. Engineers will be present to answer any questions the public may have.

There will be a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m., and refreshments will be served.

The Federated Rural Electric annual meeting will be held this evening at the Martin County West High School in Sherburn. Pork chop on a stick, cheesy hashbrowns, baked beans, cookie and a beverage will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. Guests can play bingo for prizes from 5:30-6:15 p.m. The annual meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. There will be lots of drawings for door prizes after the meeting, but guests must be present to win. Parking is available at the high school, elementary school and along the streets. There will be golf carts available to bring guests from their cars to the school door. This is Federated’s 83rd annual membership meeting.

If you need another place to eat tonight, it’s burger night at Sherburn American Legion. They will serve grilled burgers with all the trimmings from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

The mandatory Minnesota State High School League meeting for Martin County West athletes and their parents will be held 7 p.m. Monday at the high school in Sherburn. Call the high school office if you have questions. Fall practices for football, volleyball and cross country will begin on Aug. 13

Tuesday morning coffee hours during August will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Times are 8:30-10 a.m. All are welcome.
