Service Club to hold Tuesday meeting

Fairmont Service Club will meet noon Tuesday, May 23, at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont. The program this week will feature Lenny Tvedten, Executive Director of the Martin County Historical Society, who will talk about history. Genesis Classical Academy will be hosting their spring concert “It’s Classy to be Classical” Thursday, May 25, at the school located at 620 1st Ave. SW in Winnebago. Prelude music begins at 6 p.m. with the concert to follow at 6:30 p.m. The school will be open from 5:30-6:30 p.m. so guests can view student art projects. Genesis Classical Academy is a nondenominational Christian Classical Academy located in Winnebago, MN that currently educates 113 students in preschool through Grade 11. Next year Genesis will graduate its first class of high school students.

Heritage Acres meeting on Thursday

The next meeting of Heritage Acres will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25, in the Prairieville Building at Heritage Acres, 507 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. After a light supper and secretary and treasurer reports, Jerry Simon, president, will review the progress since the April meeting and final planning for the annual meeting on June 22. Three directors are up for election. Contact the nominating committee of Al Angus at (651) 353-6122 and Mike Jacobson at (507) 525-6420 for potential candidates. All members and the public are invited to attend.

CREST offering course on helpful tools for caregivers

CREST is offering a four-week course for caregivers in Fairmont entitled “A Toolbox for Caregivers.” These sessions will run from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursdays, June 1 to June 22, at the CREST office, 820 Winnebago Ave. in Fairmont.

“A Toolbox for Caregivers” is designed to provide caregivers with “tools” to reduce stress, deal with emotions, make tough decisions, and better handle the challenges you face as a caregiver. We cannot take your problems away, but we can help you find ways to manage them better, to seek and find solutions. A happy caregiver is a better caregiver. There is a suggested $10 donation to help cover the cost of materials. If you would like to attend this course, please RSVP to the CREST office by Monday, May 22, by calling (507) 235-3833.
