East Chain church plans coffee party

East Chain United Methodist Church will host its monthly community coffee party from 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at the church in East Chain. A breakfast of French toast with syrup, ham, sausage, coffee, tea and juice will be served. There will be a free will offering. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the Oakwood Cemetery maintenance fund. Everyone is welcome.

Conservation Club to hold bird house event

“Bird House Day” will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15, at the Martin County Conservation Club on the south end of North Silver Lake. Visitors can reach the park by going eight miles south of Fairmont on Highway 15, then taking a right on County Highway 8 for 1 1/4 miles just past Hands Park. They will offer a number of bluebird, wren and wood duck houses. These houses are made by club members from used donated building materials. There is no cost for the houses but donations are appreciated. The public is invited.
