BEA Lions plan Friday athletic program

The 64th annual Lions Club Athletic Program will be held 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the Performing Arts Center at Blue Earth Area High School, with dessert served following the program. Students in grades 7-12 that have earned a Junior Varsity or Varsity Letter will be recognized. Special awards will be given to selected seniors. Tickets can be purchased the night of the program for $10 per ticket or through any Blue Earth Lions Club member.

Town & Country Players to hold weekend auditions

Blue Earth Town and Country Players will be hosting auditions for their 2024 summer musical, “Church Basement Ladies” from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 18 and 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, in the choir room at Blue Earth Area High School in Blue Earth. There are parts for several women and one or two men, high school age or older. Nancy Steinke and John Engesser, stage and music directors respectively, will be conducting the tryouts.

May free meal Sunday at SJV

St. John Vianney will be serving their free May meal beginning 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19. All are invited to join them for a delicious dinner at St. John Vianney Church, 901 S. Prairie Ave., Fairmont. If you are unable to join them in person due to lack of transportation, please let them know so they can see about delivering a meal to you. Classic Movie Monday at Library

Join library staff for Classic Movie Monday beginning 1 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Fairmont Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. They will show ‘The Nutty Professor.’ Popcorn and water will be served. For questions, call the library at (507) 238-4207.

Valley Quilters set Monday meeting

The eighth meeting of the Blue Earth Valley Quilter’s 2023-2024 year will be held 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, in the media center at Blue Earth Area High School. Please enter through Door C. The meeting will begin with introductions and show and tell, always inspiring and fun. They will discuss the upcoming Blue Earth Quilt EXPO (August 16-18) and distribute bookmarks for the show to be handed out to area quilt shops, libraries, etc. Their speaker will be from the Quilted Steeple Quilt Shop in Lone Rock, Iowa. They will also have items to purchase. Blue Earth Valley Quilters is organized under the auspices of the Blue Earth Area School District’s Community Education Program. They meet the third Monday of the month at BEA High School, with no meetings in December or July. The quilting group is open to everyone who enjoys quilts or quilting.
