Prairie Star Quilters to hold meeting

Prairie Star Quilt Guild will hold its next meeting Monday at Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church, 901 Woodland Ave., Fairmont. The quilt board will meet at 12:30 p.m., followed by a general membership meeting at 1:30 p.m. They will have a short business meeting, Show-and-Share, and program. Elisa Kotewa will demonstrate a Hexie potholder and Jane Traver will be demonstrating convergent quilts, a technique by Ricki Tims. United Methodist plans free Wednesday meal

United Methodist Church in Fairmont will hold a free drive-through meal from 5-6 p.m. (or until the food is gone) Wednesday at their church. Please drive through to the main entrance at the south end of the building located at 119 E. 2nd St., Fairmont. The menu will consist of scalloped potatoes and ham, and green beans. Everyone is welcome.

CER to offer upcoming community activities

Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) will offer three upcoming community activities. First, a 55 Defensive Driving, four-hour refresher course class will be held 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the CER classroom, Suite 131 in the SMEC building, 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont. Next, a Microsoft Publisher: Basic computer class will be held 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the CER classroom, Suite 131 in the SMEC building, 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont. Fee will be $89. Lastly, a Microsoft PowerPoint: Basic computer class will be held 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the CER classroom, Suite 131 in the SMEC building, 115 S.
