Patent Pending Players to offer summer play

With permission from Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Patent Pending Players will present their children’s play “LAW & ORDER: Nursery Rhyme Unit,” a play under the direction of Elizabeth Harrison. The play will be performed at the Community Hall at the intersection of Highway 9 and P20 between Swea City and Armstrong. The play will be presented 7 p.m. on Monday, 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and a 4 p.m. matinee and 7 p.m. performance on Wednesday. Tickets are available from cast members or by calling (515) 320-2226. Leave a message. Tickets may also be purchased at the door but are subject to availability. All are welcome to attend.

Red Rock plans Sunday artist open house

A meet-and-greet open house for featured artist Sharon Sudisty of Jackson will be held 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday at the Red Rock Center for the Arts, 222 E. Blue Earth Ave., Fairmont. Come and view the retrospective art show and visit with the artist while enjoying light refreshments. This event is free. All are welcome.

Fairmont church to host Sunday music event

Christian Church of Fairmont will host a hymn fest 4 p.m. Sunday at their church located at 625 Johnson St., Fairmont. The public is invited for fun and fellowship singing the good old hymns.

College News

Peter Nielsen of Fairmont was awarded a bachelor’s degree in cartography & geographical information systems during a commencement ceremony held May 11 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Jared Hassing of Blue Earth and Justine Beckius of St. James were named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester at Riverland Community College in Austin.
