Fairmont High School class of 1961, spouses and friends, will for meet lunch 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Pizza Ranch, Fairmont.

Veteran Memorial group to meet

The monthly meeting for the Martin County Veterans Memorial will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at 95 Downtown Plaza, Fairmont. All Martin County veterans, families and the public are encouraged to attend.

Red Cross blood drive planned this week

There will a blood donation opportunity this week in the area. A Red Cross blood drive will be held 1-6 p.m. Thursday at Legends 2, 103 E. Main St. in Ceylon. All eligible donors, especially platelet donors and blood donors with type O blood, are urged to make an appointment to give and help keep the shelves stocked for patients. Martin Luther to host interactive event

A free interactive learning day featuring the history of pirates will be presented Thursday at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. A presentation for students in grades 5-8 will be held 9-11 a.m., while students in grades 9-12 will be held noon to 2:15 p.m. This event is sponsored by the MLHS Parent/Teacher’s League. The public is invited.

College News

Derek Meyer of Butterfield was named to the dean’s list, and Cejay Ulrich of Jackson was named to the President’s list for the 2018 fall semester at St. Cloud Technical & Community College.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the 2018 fall semester at Winona State University in Winona: Fairmont — Sydney Glienke, Alexis Johnson, Emily Kloeckner; Sherburn — Rachel Amborn, Jordan Gregory, Jayden Moeller; Trimont — Bryanna Peterson, McKenna Taylor; Truman — Ellie Kuehl, Jordan Smith, Renae Wallace, Carter Wille.
