Area roundup: Fairmont girls squeeze past St. Peter

ST. PETER – A 27-point scoring night from Brylee Miller powered the Fairmont girls basketball team to a 53-48 victory at St. Peter on Monday night. The Cardinals are now 19-1 on the season.
Miller shot 11-21 from the field during her impressive scoring night, tallying 10 reboundsseven steals and four assists in the process. Makayla Lowryhad eight points while Bria Williamson had five.
Fairmont (19-1) will play St. James Area this Thursday at 6 p.m.
GHEC/T/ML 70, Madelia 42
TRUMAN – Keira Benck and Londyn Bowers each scored 20 points or more during the Granada Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther girls basketball victory over Madelia on Monday night, 70-42.
Benck finished with 22 points, eight steals and five rebounds. She knocked down three 3-pointers. Bowers notched exactly 20 points and nine rebounds. The Jaguars have now won seven of their past nine contests, improving their record to 11-6 on the year.
GHEC/T/ML (11-6) will play Fairmont this Friday at 7 p.m.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Loyola Catholic 83, GHEC/T/ML 61
MANKATO – The Granada Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther boys basketball team dropped to Loyola Catholic 83-61 on Monday night.
Eli Jensen led all Jaguars with 20 points. Brody Grathwohl’s three 3-pointers powered his 15-point performance.
The Jaguars (4-14) will play Nicollet this Thursday at 7 p.m.
BOYS HOCKEY
Windom Area 1, Fairmont 0
WINDOM – The Fairmont boys hockey team fell to Windom Area 1-0 on Monday night at Windom Arena. Andrei Rivera scored the game’s lone goal in the second period on an assist from Nash Dietz.
Fairmont (6-12) will play at Waseca this Thursday at 7 p.m.
