Fairmont 10U hockey posts 2nd-place finish at tourney

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont 10U girls hockey team captured runner-up honors at last weekend’s tournament in Worthington.

Logyn Luhmann produced a hat trick to power Fairmont to a 6-4 first-round victory over Worthington last Friday.

Kenzley Tietje contributed two goals to the win, Emersyn Ebeling lit the lamp once, while Mia Wiederhoeft and Trinity Thate delivered seven and three saves, respectively, while splitting time between the pipes.

Eagan shut out Fairmont by an 8-0 second-round decision last Saturday.

Wiederhoeft made 17 stops, while Thate chipped in five saves for Fairmont.

Luhmann erupted for a game-best four goals and Thate tallied two saves to propel Fairmont to a 7-0 third-round win over Sioux Falls last Saturday.

Greyson Amundson, Ellie Steuer and Tietje each contributed one goal to the winning effort.

Tietje and Steuer netted the only two goals of the championship game to pace Fairmont’s 2-0 triumph over Austin last Sunday.

Wiederhoeft and Thate combined for three saves to pocket the shutout.

Steuer amassed a hat trick to engineer Fairmont’s 6-3 regular-season win over Austin on Nov. 26 in Austin.

Charlee Koenecke, Brooke Ruppert and Luhmann each supplied one goal each, while Wiederhoeft and Thate tallied seven and six saves, respectively, to combine for the win.

12U Division

The Fairmont 12U hockey team produced two wins and two ties to garner second-place honors at last weekend’s tournament in Worthington.

Geminnierose Lopez tallied two goals to help Fairmont salvage a 2-all tie with host Worthington during the tournament opener.

Goaltender Nola Hazard turned away 31 shots on net to earn the tie for Fairmont.

Hazard chalked up 21 saves between the pipes and Corrine Wells lit the lamp twice to steer Fairmont to a second-round 2-2 tie with Redwood Falls.

Fairmont bounced back with a 4-1 victory over Sioux Falls during third-round action.

Hayden Olson and Nani Rosario each supplied one goal and one assist, while Aspen Wickert and Paige Hartwig each scored a goal. London Truesdell and Wells each doled out one helper.

Hazard turned away 16 shots on net to pocket the win.

Lopez notched one goal and one assist, while Hazard generated 14 saves to pace Fairmont’s 4-1 victory over Aberdeen during fourth-round action.

Olson, Truesdell and Wickert each netted one goal to round out the winning performance.

15U Division

The Fairmont 15U hockey lineup compiled a 3-0 record to capture top honors at the Blackcats Tournament last weekend in River Falls, Wis.

Alexis Haycraft collected three goals and two assists, while Lauren Bettin netted a hat trick to power Fairmont to a 9-1 opening triumph over the WW Stars last Friday.

Mariel Parish, Kennedy Murphy and Halyn Haycraft each tallied one goal and one helper, while Harper Artz, Joslyn Meyer and Carly Gustafson doled out one assist each.

Alexis Sundeen turned away a dozen shots on net to pocket the win for Fairmont.

Alexis Haycraft notched one goal and one assist, while Sundeen pitched a shutout on the strength of 17 saves to top Fairmont’s 3-0 semifinal win over host River Falls last Saturday.

Bettin and Parish each chipped in one goal, while Murphy distributed one assist in the winning effort.

Parish unleashed three goals and Gustafson tallied two more to propel Fairmont to a 9-0 win over the Metropolitans during last Sunday’s finals.

Bettin, Halyn Haycraft and Alexis Haycraft each produced one goal and two helpers, Murphy lit the lamp once and Sundeen earned the shutout via 10 saves.

Maya Earhart, Avery Kurt, Artz and Meyer dished out one assist apiece in the win.

Fairmont 15U competes in the Owatonna tournament Friday through Sunday.

Bantam Division

The Fairmont Bantams netted a 3-1 mark to capture the Dakota Premium Classic Tournament last weekend in Brookings, South Dakota.

Kaden Olson netted 14 saves and Kolton Hinz tacked on seven more stops to help Fairmont nip the Brookings Rangers, 1-0, last Friday in opening-round action.

Preston Geerdes found the net off a double-assist from Preston Cepress and Noah Meixell to account for the lone goal.

The Mitchell Marlins managed to squeeze by Fairmont in second-round play, 2-1, last Saturday.

Geerdes knocked home Fairmont’s only goal off a double-pass from Cepress and Blake Thompson.

Hinz notched 15 saves between the pipes, while Olson chipped in seven stops.

Cepress piled up two goals and three assists to steer Fairmont to a 6-2 third-round win over the Fargo Freeze last Saturday.

Geerdes contributed two goals to the winning performance, while Noah Meixell and Bryce Ihrke contributed one goal and one assist.

Tyler Pankow and Caleb Meyer doled out one helper each, while Olson and Hinz generated 10 and five saves, respectively.

Cepress and Geerdes each delivered two goals and two helpers to lift Fairmont to a 5-1 win over the Brookings Rangers during Sunday’s championship contest.

Ihrke contributed one goal and one assist to the finals, Meixell doled out two assists, while Olson and Hinz combined for the winning decision between the pipes.

Meixell generated a hat trick to help propel Fairmont to a 6-0 regular-season win over Sauk Rapids on Nov. 26 in Sauk Rapids.

Cepress supplied one goal and two assists to the cause, while Geerdes chalked up one goal and one assist.

Ihrke dished out two assists, Meyer chipped in a solo goal, while Hinz made eight saves between the pipes.

PeeWee Division

The Fairmont PeeWee hockey squad reeled off three straight wins during weekend ice action.

Van Kollofski erupted for a hat trick and one assist, while teammate Bennett Draper notched three goals to roll Fairmont to a 14-6 opening-round victory over Windom.

Kane Wohlhuter and Eli Meixell supplied two goals and three assists each, while Colton Schroeder knocked home two goals.

Ryder Thate scored one goal and dished out a helper, William Egeness netted one goal, while Hogan Artz and Luther Malo dished out one goal each.

Netminder Johnnie Frerichs chalked up eight saves to pocket the win.

Draper unleashed four goals to power Fairmont to a 6-5 win over Sioux Falls during second-round action.

Meixell and Thate each tallied one goal and one assist, Wohlhuter posted two assists, while Malo dished out a set-up pass.

Blakeley Scholl recorded 24 saves between the pipes to net the win for Fairmont.

Thate scorched the net for a game-high four goals to highlight Fairmont’s 8-6 victory over Sioux Falls in Game 3 of the weekend.

Draper garnered two goals and one helper, Wohlhuter generated one goal and two assists, Egeness lit the lamp once, while Malo and Meixell doled out one assist apiece.

Frerichs turned away 16 shots on net to earn the win for Fairmont.
