BEA zips Luverne in tennis

BLUE EARTH — The Blue Earth Area Bucs boys tennis team used dominating singles play to sweep the visiting Luverne Cardinals 7-0 in Big South Conference play on Monday at Hal Schroeder Courts in Blue Earth.

The Bucs’ singles players lost only two games in the eight sets.

Joe Frundt beat Ethan Nath 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Brady Lorenz duplicated the feat by beating Ross Bergman 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

Jamie Johnson and Devin Haase both blanked their respective opponents Caleb Kracht and Kaleb Hemme, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

Luverne forfeited all three doubles matches to Blue Earth Area, with Ryder Dutton and Mitchell Stevermer winning at the No. 1 spot, Seth Mathews and Gustavo Chavero netting a win at second doubles and Noah Hanson and Mateaus Sanchez earning the point at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.

Blue Earth Area plays host to St. Peter at 4:30 p.m. today in at Schroeder Courts.
