North Union boys golfers close in triangular
GARNER — North Union golfers Drew Henderson and Teagon Fothergill posted another 1-2 individual showing during Tuesday’s Iowa prep triangular at Garner Golf & Country Club.
For a second consecutive meet, Henderson captured medalist honors by firing a nine-hole round of 39.
Likewise, Fothergill penciled in a runner-up medalist mark of 40 to help top the Warriors’ third-place team total of 178.
Tommy Miller carded a 41 to pace Forest City’s winning score of 171, while Brody Frayne also delivered a round of 41 to help host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura squeeze by North Union for second place with a 177.
Chase Cummins fired a round of 47, while Caden Walders chipped in a 52 to complete North Union’s counting scores.
Jack Harms and Carson Hall each delivered rounds of 43 for Forest City, while teammate Ty Dillavou finished just one stroke off their pace with a counting round of 44.
Andrew Hook shot a 42 for host GHV, Owen Pueggel contributed a 45, while Nolan Lortz fired a 49.
The North Union boys golf lineup plays host to Belmond-Klemme and Lake Mills at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at Country Greens Golf Course in Armstrong.
