MARSHALL — The Martin County Area Magic gymnasts earned a split decision during the final triangular of the regular season on Monday night in Marshall.

Jocelyn Sellner and Olivia Eckstein generated respective second- and third-place finishes in the all-around competition to pace New Ulm’s winning team total of 128.025 points, while Abi Chavez produced a fourth-place overall individual score of 31.525 to top MCA’s second-place team mark of 125.8.

Cameen McFarquhar bested the all-around field with a first-place score of 32.3, including winning marks on the vault (9.05) and floor exercise (8.85), to trigger Marshall’s team effort of 119.225.

Sellner, who placed second overall with a total of 31.925, captured top accolades on the uneven parallel bars with a 7.9 to edge McFarquhar’s runner-up 7.75, while New Ulm teammates Emma Radloff and Eckstein — who tallied 31.7 points in the all-around — claimed a respective 1-2 finish on the balance beam.

Mollie Leiding, who claimed the No. 2 all-around spot (31.45) behind Chavez on the Magic’s rotation, produced a third-place score of of 7.95 on the beam, with Chavez placing fourth overall at 7.55.

Ava Thate contributed an all-around score of 30.625 to MCA’s performance, while Lillie Schultz generated a tie for third on the vault at 8.625 and garnered runner-up honors on the floor behind McFarquhar by netting an 8.75.

Mollie Leiding edged out Schultz for second place on the vault with an 8.65, while Jadyn Montgomery completed the Magic’s top-four performances by placing fourth on the uneven bars with a 7.325.

Martin County Area competes in the Section 2A Meet on Thursday, Feb. 16, at St. James High School.
