Madelia baseball slides by Mavericks

MADELIA — Dylan Grev pitched a complete game, in addition to producing one hit and two RBIs, to guide the Madelia Blackhawks to a 6-1 victory over the Martin County West Mavericks during a rescheduled non-league baseball contest on Wednesday night in Madelia.

Grev allowed one unearned run while scattering five hits, recorded a game-best six strikeouts and did not issue a walk in seven innings of work to earn the victory.

Jacob Lehman singled and scored a run for Madelia.

Wyatt Williamson singled home the Mavericks’ only run of the game, teammate Jacob Fiala doubled in three at-bats, while Jacob Clarke went 1-for-3.

Williamson gave up six runs — three earned — on three hits, struck out three and issued four walks in five frames of work to absorb the loss for MCW.

Christian Bachenberg struck out one and walked one in one scoreless and hitless inning of relief for the Mavericks.

Martin County West (9-6) travels to St. James today for a 5 p.m. nonconference game against the host Saints.
