FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Athletic Booster Club will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, in Fairmont High School’s Media Center.

Havnen delivers rare albatross

FAIRMONT — Tom Havnen of Fairmont connected for a rarity at Interlaken Golf Course on Aug. 12.

Havnen used a 3-wood to reach the cup in one swing at the Fairmont course’s 275-yard ninth hole. Since No. 9 is a par-4, the ace is deemed an albatross.

Fairmont girls team, Thompson earn spots in AA rankings

FAIRMONT — Fairmont senior standout Laura Thompson and the Cardinals girls team earned spots in the Class AA state cross country preseason poll.

Thompson is ranked No. 8 individually, while Fairmont is No. 6 in the team rankings.

Interlaken Open to hit course Sept. 10-12

FAIRMONT — The 55th annual Interlaken Open golf tournament will tee off in Fairmont on Sept. 10-12.

Registration is open to the first 96 players to sign up and as of Thursday, the field is more than half filled already.
