Warriors take gold at Relays
ESTHERVILLE — The North Union Warriors claimed first as a team during the 99th Dick Barrett Boys Relays on Friday with 152 points.
Carter Anderson took first for the Warriors in the high jump when he was the lone competitor to clear the bar at 5-8, while Carter Johnson took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 16-2.75.
Aric Arndorfer (83-10) and Izaak Martens (80-2.5) placed seventh and ninth, respectively, in the discuss throw, while Aiden Clausen (35-3) took fifth in the shot put and Collin Rasch (30-8.5) finished 10th.
The North Union 800-meter sprint medley team of Kaleb Lufkin, Carter Morphew, Bryer Prochniak and Aiden Fries took first in 1:40, while Nick Schiltz took the gold in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:06.15.
The Warriors’ 4×800-meter relay team of Preston Guerdet, Nick Arndorfer, Kaden Laabs and Gavyn Morphew finished third in 9:42.21, while the 4×100-meter shuttle hurdle team of Carter Morphew, Anderson, Lukin and Johnson finished first in 1:11.71.
Prochniak added a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.11, while Shawn Odegaard took ninth in 14.13.
The Warriors’ distance medley team of Martens, Aric Arndorfer, Lufkin and Trevor Kruse took first in 4:12.8, while Fries claimed gold in the 400-meter dash in 54.7 seconds and Odegaard finished ninth in 1:10.13.
North Union’s 4×200-meter relay team of Martens, Johnson, Aric Arndorfer and Rasch finished fourth in 1:47.46, then Carter Morphew (16.45) and Anderson (16.55) took first and second, respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles.
Nick Arndorfer (2:26.2) and Laabs (2:29.27) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 800-meter run, while Prochniak and Fries took the top two spots in the 200-meter dash. Prochniak crossed the finish line in 22.81 and Fries was close behind at 23.84.
Anderson ended third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.91, while Kruse was seventh in 1:12.21.
Preston Guerdet claimed gold in the 1,600-meter run in 5:02.98, while Schiltz took third in 5:14.32, then the Warriors’ 4×100-meter relay crew of Lufkin, Fries, Carter Morphew and Prochniak took first in 46.37.
Finally, North Union’s 4×400-meter relay team of Laabs, Nick Arndorfer, Liam Kollasch and Kruse took sixth in 4:15.86.
The North Union boys go to Buffalo Center to face North Iowa at 5 p.m. Thursday.
