To honor the people who have died defending freedom and liberty of we the people, we bring you “a few appropriate remarks” from President Abraham Lincoln at the dedication of Soldiers’ National Cemetery in Gettysburg: Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
