Girl Scout project helps Humane Society

Local Girl Scouts Avril Wiens and Madison Sokoloski made and donated items to the Martin County Humane Society for their Girl Scout Silver Award project. Girl Scouts is a great program that teaches responsibility and the importance of community service. We thank these girls for their genoristy, and we’re sure the Humane Society does as well.

Kinship Raffle has

local focus

Kinship is currently putting on a fall raffle for the first time. The raffle serves as a fundraiser for the organization and the prizes given come from local businesses. It’s great to see the community support Kinship and vice versa.

Faribault Co. expands offerings to students

This week the Faribault County Commissioners heard from Emily Davis, community workforce coordinator, about some of the programs her position offers. Davis said some professionals in the community help conduct mock interviews for high school students. What a great way to prepare them for what comes after high school, whether it be directly entering the workforce or more schooling. This is a good example of the local community coming together to help our youth.

Bonding Tour

hears jail needs

This week the Minnesota House Capital Investment State Bond Tour took place through the Martin County Courthouse, law enforcement cenetr and jail. We’re sure they saw how badly improvements are needed in the jail and law enforcement center. We fully support a new Justice Center and hope we get the funding for it.
