New design, cost shared for community center

Last week at a joint work session members of the Fairmont Area Community Center Foundation shared the idea for a new design, and a cost to go with it, for the community center. It’s clear the Foundation made adjustments to the design based on costs and financials to come up with something that’s within a reasonable budget. The city council should move forward and approve so shovels can be put into the ground.

County considers electric vehicles

County Engineer Kevin Peyman shared news with the county commissioners of a grant that can be used to purchase an EV truck for just $15,000. It’s nice to have the advantage of this grant to get a vehicle for such a low cost. As the board decided, the truck will be used by the highway department where it will surely get great use.

Airport sees use, needs upgrades

The Fairmont Municipal Airport sees as many as 10,000 air operations a year, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. What a great asset to our community. There’s some work slated at the airport in the coming years as it’s important to keep up with not only the look of the building, but with all of the codes and regulations associated with it.
