Marker long overdue To the Editor: I recently noticed the newly added no wake zone marker/buoy at the south bay of Sisseton Lake in Fairmont, and I’ll just add that it’s long overdue. My hope is that this will be enforced by our law enforcement officers and not just a suggestion to boaters. I’ve witnessed several boaters in just a Friday afternoon completely ignore the rule, actually just now a boat towing a tuber blasted by it within 20 feet. We’re lucky to have such great lakes for our boating enjoyment, with many acres of space to explore. Safety should be the goal ...

Go see ‘Wizard of Oz’ To the Editor: We want to encourage people to go see the Fairmont Civic Summer Theater’s excellent production of “Wizard of Oz.” The performance was well-paced and roles were well-cast. Our favorite characters were the wicked witch, played by Izzy Munsch, who made the character her own; Jaelynn Pierce as the coroner in Munchkinland, who owned her role and because it was fun to see people we know. Either Scarecrow or Dorothy who were both outstanding, and Toto because we like dogs. But the whole ensemble did an excellent job, and we highly recommend ...

Just a restructuring To the Editor: In the legal notices of the Sentinel, there has been a notice that says Martin County Youth for Christ is dissolving. This has caused some to have misconceptions of what is/has been happening. 1. Martin County Youth for Christ is still alive and well. We went through a restructuring to implement some major cost-saving measures. 2. We joined with several other similar programs across southern Minnesota to use the economies of scale to save each of us thousands of dollars each year. Class of ’57 salutes class of 2019 To the Editor: Fairmont High School graduated 129 hopeful seniors on June 2. They are uncertain now with college or work plans, family decisions and immense global unrest. In 1957, 140 seniors graduated from the new building on Victoria Street. They too were hopeful and full of expectations, energy and lust for the promised life. Many of those people are celebrating 80-some years of life this month at a Fairmont park that did not exist in ’57. Thanks for the support To the Editor: The evangelism committee for Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church would like to take this opportunity to thank Fareway and an anonymous donor for their generosity in helping us supply a meal to the tenants at Friendship Village on June 29. We served 82 meals that day. We were able to provide a delicious BBQ meal, fellowship and friendship. It was a fun day for all who participated.
