Thoughts on abortion legislature To the Editor: Our state legislature is dominated by the Democratic Party at this time. In committee, they have been attempting to codify abortion into our state constitution. Since there is no committee hearing being offered on this subject, they are attaching this to their ERA [equal rights amendment]. How on earth can you call for an equal rights amendment and condoning murdering a child, even unto the date of birth?? Support Knights of Columbus auction event To the Editor: It’s almost here...the annual Knights of Columbus Silent/Live Auction. This year it will be held Saturday, April 6, in the gym at St. John Vianney School, starting at 6 p.m. There will be a variety of items to bid on based on your preference and proceeds will benefit CREST as well as Arc/Martin County People First. Educational decisions impacting taxes To the Editor: My kids and grandkids are in school districts far away, so I’m not afraid to speak at a board meeting or offer my opinions. Retaliation is possible, it happened, and I know that it continues. This is one of the reasons why more people don’t attend school board meetings or voice their opinions. I have been asked, “Why are you wasting your time talking to the school board? An Amazing Blessing To the Editor: I recently received a huge blessing. Women of Worth, The Shepherd's In and St. John Vianney, gave me a helping hand when I needed it most. These three programs helped me get out of a relationship filled with verbal, physical and emotional abuse. They helped me get out and into a safe place of my own. Thank you all for the amazing blessing. I know that these programs are able to help myself and so many others because of all the contributions from the caring people in the Fairmont community.
