MCW Students View on School Referendum To the editor: I’m sure we have all heard about the MCW school referendum. We have heard the opinions from the Vote Yes group and the Vote No group. Many of us have our strong opinions or perspectives why they lean a certain way, but we have one more group that we have heard nothing from. That group of people are the students. To the Editor: I am a member of the MCW CARE Committee. MCW CARE is dedicated to informing voters about the upcoming MCW Bond Referendum. We are advocating for an alternative bond referendum that reflects the unique needs of every town within our community, fostering unity among all stakeholders. CARE has also requested the school district perform an unbiased, comprehensive feasibility study. This study would provide a clearer recommendation and ensure transparency. Committed to facts To the Editor: We know the information shared about the MCW referendum is overwhelming. We’re committed to focus on facts and not scare tactics. The ways that schools are funded in Minnesota are complicated. So is the way in which property is taxed and this project is funded. The cost of this project is 66.74 million dollars. Yes, when the bonds are sold, there will be interest and other fees associated with that. This is the same thing that happens when someone buys a house and takes out a mortgage.
