FACC’s community center agreement with Fairmont To the editor: The September 2024 draft agreement the FACC had drawn up by their lawyers states who owns and operates the CC. This agreement is between Fairmont City, FACC, and The FACC Holding Company, yes, there is a third entity. Fairmont city will not own the CC building, just the land, which the city leases to FACC, then FACC leases it back to Fairmont. The length of the lease is 20 years. Is beautification of streets important? To the editor: How many people will decide to live in a town based on “beautification” of the streets? We need and are lucky that the street is going to be improved. Opinions fly about high taxes, so let’s not spend extra money on something only a few will pay attention to. Goldfinch Estates commendable care for residents To the editor: Fairmont and surrounding communities, I just had to write this so people of Fairmont realize what they have in respect to Goldfinch Estates. My sister and I moved our mother into a two bedroom apartment there one month ago. Her apartment is beautiful. This assisted living facility is top notch. I stayed with my mom for one month and encountered such kindness from every one of the staff. Also, my puppy was welcome to stay there. Unfair and detrimental HUD housing practices Dear editor, I feel I must speak out for myself and many others in my current situation. I have lived in HUD housing for the majority of my life due to economic situations. I currently live in a property in Fairmont Minnesota, I plan to move to another property not far away. I'm told by both landlords due to a rule about not having housing vouchers at two places at the same time and now I must vacate my current apartment by March 31st but cannot move into my new apartment until April 1st.
