Consider supporting local non-profits To the editor: What are you doing Saturday, April 5th? If you replied, “Nothing,” consider checking out the Knights of Columbus Silent/Live Auction. This event will be held on Saturday, April 5th, at St. John Vianney’s School Gym. Doors open at 6 p.m. The live auction starts at 8:30 p.m. This year, the money raised from the auction will benefit two worthy non-profit agencies, Crest and Arc/People First of Martin County. MCW School District concerns To the editor: I write this letter to address the growing concerns I have in regards to the development plans for the Martin County West school that was voted on last spring. As with any construction project, there have been many hurdles and road blocks that have needed to be addressed. Stop politicizing child care The word “fraud” has been thrown around lately, especially in connection with child care in Minnesota. It’s important to remember, this is an old and familiar tactic. Cry fraud, then use the cry of fraud to discredit a program. The goal being to defund the program. Resist MAGA’s actions To the editor: On Feb. 18, 2025, in Huntington Beach, Calif., a former NFL player was arrested at a city council meeting for protesting against the current federal administration’s actions. His name is Chris Kluwe. Disrespect for the law To the editor: Did you know that during the Jan. 6, 2021, siege of the U.S. Capitol, over 80 U.S. Capitol Police Officers were assaulted, as well as over 60 officers from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department? Did you know that about 19 police officers serve the Fairmont community (Fairmont police website (1/29/25)? The law needs to be upheld To the editor: I took an oath 45 years ago when I became an attorney in Minnesota to support the United States and Minnesota Constitutions and have worked my entire career to support the rule of law. I was sickened to learn that Trump has pardoned 1,550 January 6 rioters. They attacked and injured 140 policemen, threatened to harm Members of Congress and the Vice President and damaged the United States Capitol.
