Visitation will be prior to the time of service from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Scott passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Scott Duane Stromberg was born on Sept. 28, 1957, in Trimont, Minn., the son of Duane and Shirley (Baldwin) Stromberg. The family lived in Trimont, Minn., where Scott began his education. The family later moved to Mankato and Lake Crystal, Minn., before returning to Trimont, where Scott graduated from high school.

From an early age, Scott was fascinated by anything mechanical. Following graduation, he attended South Central Technical College in Mankato, earning his degree in Auto Mechanics. He put his talents to work at Hawkins Chevrolet in Fairmont, where his exceptional mechanical abilities and work ethic earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike during his 21-year career.

Never one to shy away from hard work or new opportunities, Scott later joined LB Pork, where he farmed and drove truck. As the years went by, Scott built his own hog barns and took great pride in raising pigs. Scott worked at LB Pork for over 25 years and considered those there his family. Whether working in the field, behind the wheel, or in the shop, Scott poured his heart into everything he did.

On May 21, 1993, Scott was united in marriage to Lupe Ybarra Gonzales. Together they blended their family of two children, Josie and Chris and built a life centered on hard work and love of one another.

Scott embraced life with enthusiasm and a fearless sense of adventure. He loved fast cars, the roar of horsepower, and few things brought him more excitement than spending an evening under the lights cheering on the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. If there was one holiday that perfectly matched Scott’s personality, it was the Fourth of July. Every Independence Day, family and friends knew they were in for a spectacular fireworks display. Scott’s shows became legendary, often rivaling professional displays and sending everyone, including Scott himself, running for cover amid laughter and booming explosions.

A true jack-of-all-trades, Scott possessed an incredible ability to solve just about any problem. He could diagnose electrical issues, rebuild engines, repair mechanical equipment, tackle plumbing projects, and figure out solutions that left others scratching their heads. To Scott, there was no project too difficult and no challenge too intimidating. If something was broken, he believed it could be fixed and more often than not, he proved himself right.

While Scott’s talents were many, nothing meant more to him than his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, lending a helping hand whenever it was needed, sharing his knowledge, and creating memories that will forever be cherished. His quiet acts of kindness, dependable nature, and willingness to drop everything to help those he loved became hallmarks of the man he was.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Josie (Dale) Petersen and Chris (Meghan) Stromberg; grandchildren, Austin, Sydney, Clayton, Karrah, Amber, Jared, Tyson, Kaitlyn, Zaylen, Walker, and Liam; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Shar) Stromberg; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Lupe Stromberg; father, Duane Stromberg and his mother and stepfather Shirley and Jim Guetzkow.
