Grace C. Ekstrom

TRUMAN — Grace Carolyn Ekstrom passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at her home in Truman Minn. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman, with Rev. Timothy Chase officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Grace Nelson was born March 23, 1936, in Faribault, Minn., the daughter of Walter and Emma (Fuchs) Nelson. She was raised in Faribault and attended Faribault High School. Grace married her husband, Adean Dale Ekstrom, on Aug. 4, 1956. Together, they raised 5 children. Grace was a medical insurance coder and was employed by Core Source in Jackson Minn. and she retired from there after many years. During her life she lived in St. James, Ceylon, and then finally moved to Truman in 1967. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in every sporting event or concert they participated in. She loved watching “Her” Minnesota Twins, Vikings and the Timberwolves teams play. Grace loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and watching them grow. Having coffee with special friends was a perk in her life. Grace is survived by sons, Gary (Robin) of Lewisville, Keith (Cindy), and Curtis of Truman, Daryl (Sherry) of Chaska Minn.; daughter, Kim Meade of Truman; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald (Arlyce) Nelson of Mesa, Ariz., Ted Nelson of Santa Monica, Calif., and Van (Yuri Grertser) Nelson of Scottsdale, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adean; parents, Walter and Emma Nelson; a beloved grandson, Kyle Ekstrom; brother, David (Joanne) Nelson; and parents-in-law, Helen and Algort Ekstrom. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Grace’s name to St. Paul Lutheran School would be much appreciated.
